Ability To Use State Land In Minnesota

Recommended Posts

I'm wondering if any other states in the upper midwest that deal with snow such as Minnesota have their local DNR's actually plow out their WMA parking areas and such lands. If it is open to anyone that pays taxes, why if we get a big snow and the plows push snow into the mouth of the state lands does the DNR not plow open those? If you do not have a 4 wheel drive vehicle, you cannot access these spots and are forced to park on a road, mainly a highway or county road, which would be extremely unsafe.

Are there any other states that DO plow theirs out?

I haven't come across any areas in South Dakota that do that. You just have to deal with it and work around it. I have needed to get towed out before because I was trying to be courteous of large farm equipment and knew even if I parked on the shoulder of the road they couldn't pass by. No option to park in the ditch because its also full of snow so I opted for the parking area and missed judged the entrance approach because of all the snow  and buried my truck.

I dont expect our GFP officials to be responsible for that. Id rather they save the time,  money,  equipment and fuel and use it for something else.

I'm guessing winter use of most of those areas just isn't high enough to justify the time and expense of keeping them open.  Like Leech said if they have some sort of trail or winter use associated with them then it would make sense to keep them open.

    • The first forum I was ever a member of was an outdoor forum associated with the Outdoor News. It wasn't very busy and someone in there posted a link to FM and I tried it and it was much busier than the Outdoor News forum. I made an account on FM but at some point I forgot my password and had to make a new account so I would say I was here at least several months before.
    • Starting to get some finished. I gave it a taste test. My wife, son and neighbor gave the thumbs up.

    • A 12v camera with light available from Tomtop out of China $70 with 65 ft cable on reel. Its color HD resolution 1000tvl better than 720p used by Marcum & Aquavu HD units. (Except latest Marcum 1020p latest camera $650). Only drawback, it takes 20 to 30 days and $6 shiping. Link to Tomtop camera. They off a lot of camera options so you may want to da a bit of searching. https://m.tomtop.com/p-y3578-15.html?currency=USD&Warehouse=CN&aid=gplausyly&mid=10000018477&utm_source=SEM&utm_medium=Google Adwords&utm_campaign=TT_PLA_YLY&utm_content=2945&gclid=Cj0KCQiAxs3gBRDGARIsAO4tqq3wBcNnVRFIUf2QknDLs18FF6NrhJ9raJW9BAdaowvDD1gw08q_abwaAilBEALw_wcB Pic simple wire diagram.
