Strikemaster Power drill unit adapter for cordless drills

Recommended Posts

anyone use a milwaukee m18 with the strikemaster adapter on a 8" chipper unit? I just realized I had a 8" chipper unit at my parents house that hasnt been used in years. I figured I could slap a new blade on it and purchase a milwaukee drill to use mostly for the ice house

Haven’t heard many that use a drill on a chipper blade. Chipper blades take a lot more torque than lazer style smooth blades

Haven't tried that. If you do, be sure to figure out a way to stop the auger from falling through the hole if the drill slips off the bit. I have a Nils, and it has a flange at the top that is wider than the blade so it can't fall down the hole. And the K-Drill floats I believe.  Slipping off the bit isn't a regular occurrence, but you won't want to lose your auger when it does.

@rl_sd is correct, 8" chipper blade too much torque for m18. It works OK up to 10" of ice. 6" works OK to about 20" ice. I use my Eskimo 43cc with a flexible exhaust inside my Wheel House. 25' sells for $35 on-line. My DIY 8" chipper does 30" ice in 26 seconds. Only way to go.

hmm, ok, I did confirm with SM and they said the bit itself isnt made to take that much torque; sounds like i would be better off trying to sell the gas auger this fall and going to an electric one

    • Been hearing 2 pileated woodpeckers in the trees for a few days. Was hoping there was a chick around. It just flew in and I got a quick shot. Male chick. First time I have captured one.
    • What do you know 2 games in a row for Sano. Cron too, he's been the steadiest with the bat lately IMO. Thought I seen something about them getting a pitcher that the Angels let go. I'd love to see them pick up another lefty for the bullpen as well.
    • A lot of it depends on the bandwidth that you are paying for. They will limit your pipe. Best bet is to hook up a computer directly to you router and see what you get on your speed test. The mesh systems are  awesome for both range and through put, but any wireless router is only going to deliver on the bandwidth that your isp provides. If you find that your hard wire computer is a lot faster, the first step is to update the firmware on your wireless router and go from there.
    • I finally put out the blackbird proof suet feeder. The juvenile redwing blackbirds have recently moved in and have been gorging on the nutty butter. Never had any grackles so far, hence the reason I’ve waited until now to swap feeders. They haven’t been hitting the sunflower chips much, so I’ll hold off on swapping those feeders for now.
