Hester
Hey guys, I have a bird at the feeder that looks like a nuthatch but it is twice the size. It also goes up and down trees like a nuthatch. It had a long beak, kinda reminds me of some a woodpeckers without any color.
eyeguy 54
hmmmm, interesting. female yellow-bellied sapsucker maybe or a young male? they are pretty plain. I have a pair around here most days. Another option could be a red bellied woodpecker.
Hester
I checked them and definatly not those options. Thanks, I'll try to catch a pic. I did hear the call several times. It made a two word call like "wa waan", almost a grunting sound.

delcecchi
Did it go down the tree headfirst?
eyeguy 54
twice as big as nut hatch makes this an interesting problem to solve. :)
