fivebucks
Saw a Rose Breasted Grosbeak at the feeder this morning in the metro. Had not seen one for a handful of years but it is always a cool bird to see. eyeguy 54
BringAnExtension
Congratulations on seeing the Grosbeak. They haven't appeared at ours yet, but it is still early. The Grosbeak is one of the last birds we see each spring.
Jim Almquist
Today it appears that the Juncos have finally headed north so bring on the migrants. I told the wife soon the Rose Breasted will show up.

Musky hunter 82
I had one show up yesterday for the first time this year, also seeing more gold finches. Question for you guys what type of seed do you put out to feed the GB's, also anyone have any tips on keeping the grackles away?
eyeguy 54
I have black oil sunflower seeds in 3 hanging feeders, all the birds love them. I stay away from millet blends cuz it attracts a lot of house sparrows. Worked at a birdseed plant in ND many years ago. Grackles are usually bad this time of the year then they go away. GB like to sit on a ledge but will sit on a post once in a while. I keep a couple nutty butter suet cakes out on trees and grape jelly, hummer food and meal worms on some plant hanger poles. Its a buffet out here.
