Some will report that you should do it when the lilacs bloom. Some will tell you to use X chemical, Y weed n feed, or napalm. But for now - it's too early. P.S. Don't let the green squirters anywhere near your lawn. I saw them out this past week and it is a total and absolute waste to be doing that kind of work this early.
