troutkingmaster
Well after years of seeing the trip reports from the archery season on here, I am finally going to make my first trip down there. Is anyone else planning a trip? I am deep in my research looking at aerials and public land maps and I think I have a game plan. Archery season is now less than 2 months away! Powerstroke
I'm heading to Nebraska again for sure. Not sure I will take advantage of the early bow season this time, but I will be out there with stick and string. A buddy and I have gotten onto a great piece of private land and now timing isn't as big of an issue due to the lack of pressure. Nebraska is great and there is a ton of public lands and open lands. CHeck out the public lands atlas for more open lands. They have a great "walk-in" type program and many of the lands are great for turkey. troutkingmaster
I have already been looking at the public land atlas and have a few public areas in mind to take a look at. I will also knock on some doors to see if I am lucky enough to get on some private. Good luck!
gac12
Made my first trip down there with the shotgun last spring on a DIY hunt. I hunted all on public land and it was a lot of fun and planning on going back this spring. Edited February 1, 2016 by gac12
HNTNBUX
For those that have hunted the public land. I just saw that they have a walk-in atlas and add wheat and stubble fields later in the season along with CRP. For a muzzle loader deer hunt, mulies would be great but whitetails are good too, do these public areas seem to hold decent deer numbers too. I heard like alot of western states that NE was hit hard with EHD and I am not sure about the recovery yet.
