cat44
Question for anyone that can offer any insight. Tonight I took my 9 year old son out. We got set up in a spot where I was hoping to catch the birds going back in to roost for the night. Well, we had a hen fly up and roost in a tree not more than 15 yards from us. When the hunt was done for the night we had no other choice but to try and slip out of there as quietly as we could. We barely took one step and she busted outta there squaking loud enough for everything in the section to hear. So my question.....how bad did we (I) screw things up for future hunts on this spot? DonBo
You're not hunting hens. I'd be right back in there in the morning. Pretend you're her and call in that Tom that you didn't spook tonight.
Powerstroke
Completely agree with Don. Get close again in the morning and play it exactly like that. I wouldn't make it a habit of getting that close to the roost, but when you can get to 50yds or so, you should be good. Busting a bird on the roost can happen to anyone. As long as you only moved a hen you'll be fine.
