Sand Burs

I'd like to get a jump on the sand burs this year before they get really loaded. They are already popping up in force. What's the best way to get rid of these things and keep them under control?

glyphosate (roundup). Put a rag on a stick to make a giant swab, soak in a fairly concentrated solution, and stroke the plants with the swab. If in closer quarters use a brush, or a cotton glove over a rubber glove. A hoe doesn't do the job?

Seems early for sand burs to be popping up right now but using a pre-emergent herbicide applied correctly should keep them from showing up. im not to far from you and I usually apply it around the end of April-early May...typically when soil temps are up between 50-55 in the morning.

I also put a 2nd app down over problem areas (along driveway and road edges)about a month later.
