Drywall Recommendations

Hey guys,

Looking for recommendations for a few local companies to do some drywall work in my basement (a family room, bedroom and bath)...about 700 sq. ft. Looking for hanging, taping and re-texturing of the ceilings. I am in Albertville.

I have been trying to get in touch with a few people to come out and give a written estimate for the last 3 weeks or so (contacted 5 different drywall businesses), and have only had one return my phone calls or emails...pretty frustrating!

I recommend u do it yourself & just pay for tape & mud. Im lazy and terrible but did ours with my aging dad and great brother. Our entire 1,500 sq ft basement turned out awesome. Just hired a great taper out of local newspaper and u cant even tell my lazy butt did it.

I'm with af, pretty sure you will need 5/8 on the ceiling but measure the depth of the ceiling boxes anyway. Go get a few sheets and see if it's something you can handle. If it's no big deal but sucks to get down there have the rest delivered.

Thanks, guys...I am more than capable of doing it myself, however this situation calls for professional estimates. We've owned the home for about 6 months, and have discovered the previous homeowner was untruthful in their disclosure statement. They indicated that all the previous work to finish the basement was permitted and inspected, when in fact it was not (and we are now discovering major issues with the home). We are in the process of entering arbitration, and need comprehensive written estimates for the work.

Called and emailed 2 more places yesterday afternoon, without response...I find it hard to believe that none of these places are in need of more business.

Just a curious question, have you told the people your trying to get an estimate from the reason you need it? If so that may be why no one is rushing out to get you an estimate.

I could send one of my estimators out possibly tomorrow or else Monday.

Agreed, if these guys know that they aren't going to get your business then they may not call back. You might need to offer to pay for an estimate.
