gunner55
I need to put a new unit on the front of the boat & would like to mount the transducer to the TM housing.Does eveyone just cable tie it to the TM shaft? It has to stay out of the way but needs the slack to be able to put the TM in.We have a older PD 12v 55(?) if that makes any difference.Any way to keep it so it doesn't get kinked everytime it's brought in?Thanks in advance, guys. marine_man
Basically, it's as you describe... use two zip ties on the shaft, just above the lower unit of the trolling motor, and an additional two zip ties just below the control head, then run the wire through the coils of control head wire to the base. It's not as clean as the universal sonar installs, but it's what has worked for quite a while now. When you cut the ends off the zip ties, leave them long enough that you can get a needle nose on them to tighten them up over time.
