ESSGuy
07 Silverado , service air bag came on this afternoon. Disconnected battery, came back on. Any ideas? Does it really need service?
Jeremy airjer W
The airbag light comes on during the self check everytime you turn the key on. If it passes the self check the light goes out. If it fails the light stays on.When the light is on there are codes in the airbag module. Those codes will help you figure out what direction you need to go. I just had one today that had a code for the driver seat airbag B0041). Unplugged the connector, blew it out with some shop air, plugged it back in, and its good to go. GM has a horrible problem with connector "fretting." this connector looked good, all the pins where tight, no corrosion, and no signs of pinched, rubbed or broken wiring. Once the connector was plugged back in I turned on the key on, the airbag went through its self check and the light went out. There are many connectors, circuits and parts that make up this system. Get the codes first and at least have an idea of where you need to look.
