Who tows a 5th wheel with a GM 4.8 liter engine?

I am looking at a 2002 GMC 1500 truck that is cherry. It has a 4.8 engine. I wish it had a 5.3. A friend of mine tows his 26' 5th and says it is just fine unless he encounters a big hill. Then it slows him down. I have a 25' Lite 5th wheel. We don't go on long trips. I am wondering if the 4.8 will be much of an issue? I sure like this truck so appreciate any comments.
