Who has a Ice 45 or 55? I have a ice 35 but thinking about upgrading. Are they all mostly the same? I have never had a problem with mine. Was just wondering if theres any down sides of a ice 45 or ice 55 compared to ice 35.

I've had an Ice 55 since the first year they came out and its been a great unit for me. I like the display better than than the Vex/Marcum alternatives - its just easier to read for my eyes. The only thing I didn't like was the battery charger (which were a little flukey with the first year batch), so I just picked up an Interstate brand one and haven't had any problems.

My buddies have the 35 and I have had the 45 since the first year they came out. I think the jump from the 35 to the 45 is worth the money, the digital depth and automatic depth settings are awesome and so easy to read compared to the 35 - in my opinion.

I used a 55 when I was with a guide a few years ago. I have my own FL18. I would love to have digital depth read out. When I'm picking spots on edges of humps I end up goofing around with my FL18 making sure I'm reading the depth right and figuring out if I'm in 20 feet or 40 feet of water.

Why not put a Vexilar DD-100 digital battery and depth gauge on your FL18?

I use the Bird 45. Best feature of it when compared to the 35 is the digital depth reader. It eliminates any guesswork of seeing what depth you are at. It also has the backlight for the LCD for low light conditions, which is a nice additional feature. I'd say go for the upgraded Birds.
