wood insert

I'm looking to put an insert into an older fireplace. Now I am not sure wether to have it installed or to try it myself. The house is a walkout so I can get the unit around back but getting this 400 plus pound unit in the house might just suck a little. The fireplace is not ground level either so trying to hook up the flexible liner to the unit might pose as a challenge as well. Am I biting off more than I can chew or is this going to be something that sounds harder than it actually is.

Biggest challenge is hooking up the vent pipe no doubt. If your chimney is straight on the bottom it would be very easy. You will need some help to feed flexible liner down chimney. We put one in about 5 years ago and it was a little struggle but worth it in the end as the insert throws out way more heat than the regular fireplace did.

Unfortunately we are taking the system out in a couple weeks as we are putting in a gas insert. Not my decision, but none the less I will be removing it. I have the Drolet insert and 15' of 8" stainless flexible chimney liner that I am going to be selling PM me if interested.

yes they can be a pain in the neck. If you can buy the liner and woodstove then get somebody to install it for you would be best. We bought a drolet from northern tool for 1200 then a stainless chimney liner online for 1000 then 300 for the high temp liner insulation. Not sure if insulation was needed but was recommended for a better draft. We installed it ourselves which took 2 guys about 5 hours

rif raff I didn't get your message fyi
