Putn'am ondaLine
I'm glad you posted this Mike, I try to watch it every year during the early and late ice season just for a reminder. Early and especially late ice can be extremely dangerous, precautions should never be brushed aside. Always have safety picks, use a heavy chisel to check the ice in front of you, go with a buddy, and bring rope. I keep a rope tied around my waist and have spare dry clothes on shore, I even wear a PFD and on late ice I'll wear a 7 mil wetsuit with it. But the most important part is making the decision not to go out on the ice if you have any doubts. Waiting until it is safe won't kill you, not waiting just may... make the right call even if it means going back home early without fish for dinner. Jarrid Houston
We've been ice fishN, but my take on this subject is it is dangerous. I cringe when I see Facebook post of guys out on early ice. This more less promotes dangerous ice fishing. And for some kid to view a FB post and think it's okay cuz some guy that looks professional? Well that can be bad.. That is why we dedicate our early n late ice talk to safety. Yes we went fishing this weekend, but we are not sharing pics on the internet. I don't wanna be the guy that was responsible for someone's tragedy..Be safe
