Snow Bunting?

Recommended Posts

I was out in Afton State Park walking along the St. Croix river shoreline and saw what I think is a lone snow bunting feeding in the rocks. I've only seen them in northern Mn in small flocks along road shoulders.

Arent those the ones that show up in the winter right after a snowstorm? I always called them "snowbirds". Not to be confused with the blue hairs that flock to Arizona.

I hate to even see that 4 letter word this early. Nic pic of the cute little guy.

Down here we call our Horned Larks snow birds because they act pretty much like the buntings.
