DavidHColorado
Transition time at Chatfield. The water temp has been up to 57 but was down to 55 this day. I heard rumors of a rigging bite and figured some fish would be within jigging range. We started on the west shoreline and caught two walleyes on blue/white Zoom Flukes on jigs. I went to the dock to pick up my other client and with a full boat we started rigging fish I saw on the north/south roadbed. We got a couple of them to bite on gulp killer crawlers hooked with VMC worm hooks. When the sun went down we checked the islands, east/west roadbed, and other humps and no fish were home.We then extended the trip by pulling crankbaits on load core. We used planers to spread out the lines. Our best bait was a #7 smash shad in cheap sunglasses. A big fish was landed in the middle of a couple of other keepers. The biggie went 5+ lbs and 23". She was a fat fish.
