Flipping feature on a diawa reel

Recommended Posts

I have a diawa reel with a switch on it that will allow me to use it in flipping mode. I have never used it and have lost the instructions for it. Can anyone tell me how and when to "flip"? What kind of situation do you flip in? Are there any baits or lures that work best for this technique? Any help would be great.

the way switch works is when on , as soon as you take your thumb off of the spool release bar the reel engages. fort flipping or pitching or buzzbaits i use it. that way if a fish hits while you are switching hands you can still set the hook. you can use jigs, spinnerbaits, and crankbaits for this . WARNING !! if you have it on and forget and release the thumbar during a regular cast; it will sound like it is tearing the guts out of it. ( i haven't yet!) just play with it and see. del
