Clam Covers

I bought a thermal X2 two weeks ago. The cover was on back order and finally came in today. I am wondering if this cover is strong enough to stay on the shelter if I am hauling it on my snowmobile trailer. The elastic band on the cover doesn't feel that strong. I'm worried it may get sucked right off at highway speeds. Has anyone transported there shelter this way?

I have 2 covers for my clams...early 2000's pro and the X2 2 man house...both covers stay on at highway speeds and I have never had an issue with them. the X2 cover seems like it would fly off but it has never happened to me. If I am driving at night though and am thinking of it I throw my auger on the cover and that gives me peace of mind but it really has not been a concern now that I have had it for 5 years without an issue

That's good to hear. I will definitely keep an eye on it the first couple times I go down the road, and probably put straps over it if I go on the interstate. Putting something on it sounds like a good idea also, especially if it flaps a lot.

I bought a cover for my X1. First time out it hooked rubbed against my topper while getting it out and ripped a hole in it. Pretty thin compared to the other clam covers I have had. Which have lasted 10 plus years without ripping.

As for coming off, I run a strap over them when hauling on a trailer.
