blank question

Recommended Posts

Ive been building for a few years, just a hobbie. All the rods ive done are on stcrx blanks. Typically sc4 and sc5 blanks, and some sc3. I see people talk about the rainshadow blanks. Thoughts on the two? Quality, feel, etc. How would you compare the models? Scv = rx8? Or ive heard rainshadow are not great and the rx8 are more like an sc2. Thoughts?

Well I know that I have built on SC2 and SC3 and the Rainshadow RX7. The RX7 compares very well with the SC3 as far as quality goes, actions might be a bit different. If I could find a Rainshadow blank with the action I was looking for, I would not hesitate to go that route. St. Croix makes some very nice blanks too and if I am building one for a friend or relative and they want the St Croix blank, that is what they get wink

i wish the rainshadows had a nice colored glossy finish like the croixs.

I usually build on croix blanks, but the rainshadows feel nice and don't damage the pocketbook as bad as the croixs.

The RX7 for the most part are matte gray. If you move up to the RX8 you get the titanium chrome (very nice) and the RX8+ are satin black which is also very nice. The RX6's are either clear gloss or matte gray. I've also would like them to switch up the colors a little for the RX7's.
