Golf club counter weights

A few weeks ago I played a round of golf in AZ. I heard one of the guys (About 50 to 55 years old) tell on of his partners that he was real happy with the counterweights he put in his club shafts and they have added close to 10 yds. to distance and his accuracy is better.

I looked at them on some local golf shop web sites, but don't find a lot of information other than prices. There is a wide variety in weight sizes ranging from 5 grams to around 90 grams, but nothing about which is the correct weight to select.

Has anyone used counterweights and what's your take on them?

Would they be more of a benefit to players with higher swing speeds?

P.S. I'm 65 with a swing speed of 85 to 87 mph using Ping G10's w/graphite shafts. Thanks for any input.
