What type and size fluorocarbon line do you like for jig and t-rig fishing? I used 15lb red label last year and it was ok but I'm thinking of trying something else this year, maybe sunline sniper. Just curious what everyone else is using. Not interested in braid for this rod.

16 lb sniper is my go to

How is the stretch/sensativity? I know with most fluoros, better handling equals more stretch and less sensitivity. That's why I've stayed away from invizx so far since I've heard it stretches more than some monos.

I've used 16# Toray Superhard Upgrade the last couple seasons for jigs and love the stuff. Very tough, very abrasion resistant. Live the sensitivity. I pitch with it in rushes pretty regularly and it can handle it.

With fluoro there's definitely a trade-off with handling ease vs. a stiffer, more dense line that will have a little better feel. Personally I'm rarely trying to get max distance jig fishing (crankbaits are different, and I use different line for that as a result.)

Toray is not cheap, but I've come to the conclusion that with fluoro you get what you pay for. One nice thing, when you get a spool of Toray the line is marked half way through the spool, so you can get two reels out of a spool and fill them evenly.

That's a great idea! I hate spooling with a leftover spool and come to find out its only half of what you need. I'll have to check the stuff out next time I need some.

Bass Pro Shops (not my favorite store/online retailer) has their XPS Fluoro 200 yard spools on sale right now for $9.99 each. That's all sizes from 6-25 Ib test. I have fished this fluorocarbon for 3 seasons now and love it - very high quality line for extremely reasonable price when on sale. Retails at $20/spool when not on sale.

From my research it sounds like Toray makes the XPS fluorocarbon and Seaguar makes cabelas. Sounds like it would be a good buy at that price as long as I don't have to pay shipping.

Probably true but have to be kind of careful with equating them. Having used both Toray is definitely different stuff than XPS.

Fluorocarbon is actually only made in 3 or 4 factories world-wide. All but one is in Japan (there's one in Germany). They make fluorocarbon for all kinds of stuff, including fishing line. So it might be made by the same manufacturer, but 'made by' doesn't necessarily mean 'the same as.'
