Jason Mitchell Elite Series Rods

Recommended Posts

Anybody have any opinions on the Jason Mitchell Elite Series rods? I've used St. Croix for a long time and like them well but the prices are getting a little steep so I thought I'd look around.

I have numerous SCV St Croix rods I have built and love them all, but they do run into some money.

The Mitchell rods are very good rod's for the money, I believe I own 4-5 of them. Just depends on what one is looking to spend I guess.

If all I had to use was the Mitchell line of rod's, I do believe they would all get the job done.

Bought a 7ft. ML Jason Mitchell rod a couple of years ago for jigging, but didn't really like it. Started using it last year for a riggin rod and love it. Maybe the reel that is on it now balances better or something. It does seem to be made well. Haven't fished with any of the new split handle ones, but they seem like a good deal for the money.

Had two for jigging eyes... They are now and most likely for the rest of there life used as bobber rods. Work good for fighting fish and the big eyes are nice because they don't freeze but they just aren't the same as a st. Croix or obviously your expensive custom rods

Thanks for the input. I picked up a 7' med spinning and a 7' med casting when Gander had them on sale and they seem to be pretty decent especially for the $50 price tag.
