late ice?

well i tried it today. if you enjoy shoveling down 2 feet of snow to get a hole drilled and sit in 4-5 inches of slush its great. any way late ice with this snow slush on top. once it gets melting and with the weight is late ice even a safe option. i know we got lots of ice but it seems like a normal year you have about 2 weeks and its over. just wondering what you guys think i may be putting my stuff up thanks.

I think eventually as things start to melt the water on the ice will find its way through cracks etc and then it won't be so bad. As far as safe as thick as the ice is we might be out there in April even in Southern MN this year!

I'm pretty sure I gave up ice fishing april 7th last year, and guys still went out after me. I'd say we will have safe ice all of march, and at least a week into april. After that, its mostly the really brave/stupid guys. The sun just makes the ice too unpredictable.
