Strike Master Mag 2000

Hello all new member here ,

got a quick question , I purchased a used Strike Master Mag 2000 ice auger , it has the 2 hp Tecumseh power head and a 10 inch auger , my issue is the original owner drilled out the bolt holding the auger bit too the power head and installed a quick pin , now my issue is I cannot get the power head too detach from the auger bit , I remove the quick pin and it should simply pull apart , I cannot get the power head drive more then a 1/4 inch out of the auger bit shaft , is there anything special too this auger I should know about like a key way that I have too align too get them apart ? , I have reviewed the online manual for this auger and they do not have any information pertaining too my issue , nor does the websites FAQ section , I seek an experienced hand .

PS, the auger works amazing , I just want too separate the unit for easier travel on and off lakes by snow machine.

the shaft on the power head is suppose to just slip into the hole on the auger. If you are getting it to move a 1/4" I would spray some penetrating oil on and in the joint and let it work it's way in.

See if you can get a screw driver in there just to break it loose. Some are a really tight fit, just pull straight up and keep wiggling.

i got the same auger and one of those coupler things. It does the same sort of thing. Wiggle wiggle and some deep creep. Helps to have somebody yank on the auger while somebody else yanks on the powerhead.

Could be rusted or when it was drilled out it wasn't deburred.

Hit it with penetrating oil and next time on the ice drill with the pin out.

Eventually it'll free up. Just don't drill all the way through the ice and have your

drill fall off.

Hello again ,

Just wanted too say thank you all for the info , I strapped the auger in the bench vise , fired up the power head an it worked itself apart. Got it De-burred and polished , now it slips apart like a champ .
