Wood stove in portable flip ice house

I'm tossing around the idea of fitting a little wood stove that I have in my non insulated portable fish house. I would have to sew in a flame proof collar in the canvas for the stove pipe. On the colder days and evenings it seems that my sunflower has a little trouble keeping up.

Not sure if this will work but thought it would put out more heat.

It won't work. I've found it to be about as warm as a sunflower depending on size. Plus its less safe when moving, and a pain to start. I love it in my permanent, but I wouldn't want it in my portable. I'm actually not sure how you are cold with a sunflower. They work great. Maybe you need a floor, just to get your feet off the ice. I've never had mine off low before, and that thing will get my uninsulated hub to about 70 degrees in under 15 minutes.

I have a quick flip 3. It is a mr. Heater cooker. It seems that the more it runs, the cooler it gets, say over a 4 hour period. I agree with the cool down period, it does take longer.

I run the heater off a 20lb tank with a hose. Maybe my heater is just going bad and I need a new one. It's about 9 years old and this is the first time I've had trouble with it.

I have noticed by adding the insulex or whatever you buy at mens ards in a roll and fitting it to the roof helps heat the place a ton. I would say it almost doubles the head in the shack. You also have to make sure its banked well once you get tons of wind in the shack there is no heating it

Definitely don't get a buddy heater if your sunflower is too cold. They are junk. They are nice an portable, but if you want T shirt temps, forget it. Maybe you sunflower is just not working. If its more than 5 years old, get a new one and you'll be opening your doors so your not sweating!

I will argue the fact that big buddy heaters are junk. The big buddy heater is the best investment I've made for ice fishing prior to my thermal fishhouse. The biggest problem with Big Buddy heaters to me seems to be the operator. People don't bleed air out of lines, use wrong hoses which plug lines, and don't cover in office season leading to dust and cobwebs getting into the lines. They are safe, portable, and you won't have a headache at the end of the day. You also don't have to worry about burning a hole in your portable like the sunflowers are notorious for. Just my opinion.
