live bait

Fishgun,
Bass will eat just about every type of live bait out there. Right now, I would use either Redtail Chubs or Suckers. Or, if you can get them frogs. For size, you need to match your bait size to the size of fish you want to catch. Go big if you want big fish, but not as many fish, smaller if you want a lot of fish but size will be a little smaller. Make sure to check the regs before you collect frogs, there are restrictions concerning the length.

For rigging, take the walleye approach. Lindy rig style, or us bassers would call it a Carolina rig. Go lighter on the weight and use a livebait style hook. Or if you are fishing around a lot of weeds, try a bullet sinker and a weedless hook. Good luck and catch a hawg!

I am not sure if tree frogs would work or not? I have never tried. I would assume they would, I don't imagine the bass would be too picky, I have always used leopard frogs. Tree frogs might be worth a try.
Good luck!
