RIPN LIPS
I am thinking about heading to the amery area, can anyone confirm decent ice in the area? Thanks
Nick Kuhn
Some people have been heading out, not sure how much ice there is though. After this sputtering of snow it will get cold. Should be plenty of ice by the weekend.
nllumberco
I'm hoping to get out possibly Wednesday night and then for the weekend and will be on Balsam and Half Moon most likely. Report to follow.
sausageman
Any report up in that area would be very much appreciated.
Nick Kuhn
My buddy has been doing pretty well on the panfish just about everywhere he goes, and has been getting occasional walleyes. I haven't been up there. He is still walking out, but there are a few vehicles that have been driving out.
Sinker
Thanks for the report Nick. Good Luck.
nllumberco
Never made it up, just can't get enough of a break from snow removal to make it worth the trip. Yet...
pheasantpro10
Can anyone give me an update on current ice conditions? Heading to the cabin this weekend and just curious if I will be able to drive on the lake. Thanks, and will be near Turtle Lake.
Nick Kuhn
Expect to find 14 to 15 inches of ice. Remember they got more snow that way earlier this year, so it may not be the best ice.
B-man715
Some lakes are better than others. A buddy of mine checked Big Round today and found a ton of slush, with a couple trucks stuck. While other lakes in the area are in great shape. You should be fine, but no ice is safe.......
JBMasterAngler
Balsam Lake had about 17 inches. Was a decent amount of snow on the ice, but no slush.
pheasantpro10
I appreciat the response. Hope I can get around and maybe catch some fish! Thanks again.
nllumberco
I drove over most of Balsam last weekend and found 16'' plus and no slush. On Half Moon I drove from the main access and off the south side and found more of the same. I'd love a report off of any other area lakes if your out. Night crappie bite was pretty good on Balsam, minnows were best.
Volkan
Bone Lake was really good 20ft and deeper lots of eater perch and sunny. Big Butternut is really active. I ll be there this weekend to catch some eaters. On Big Butternut we were really successful with minnows and with waxies on Bone. I haven't set any tip ups on those lakes this season so I ll try that this weekend too
