East Rush Rules
Just curious to see if anyone was planning on doing some fall plantings of trees in the next several weeks. I am new to the tree planting game....but I would love to get a few pear trees in before the snow flies. When do most of you have good luck with this? I would think sometime soon! LABS4ME
We are starting an apple orchard on the property next week. Planting the 24th-26th. 20-30 trees. Got 7 gal (7-8' branched) potted apples for $30.00 each. Should be a hot spot in 3-5 years. Will take fruit off the 1st two so trees can put all their effort into growth.Fall is the perfect time to plant. Make sure you backfill with no air pockets... a little compost and starter fertilizer go along way. no air pockets! Mulch helps immensly.. Protect trucnks from mice, rabbits and deer. Choose hardy stock, and make sure it is acceptable for the zone you will be planting it in.Good Luck!Ken

LABS4ME
The old cow pasture is now an orchard... 20 trees later. planted, tubed, pruned and fenced. Really looking forward to this as a early season destination for bow hunting... I think in 3 years we will have our first 'crop'. Good Luck!
