Knots

Savage Brewer

Question

I have been using the Uni Knot (I think it is also known as the Duncan Knot) for many years without an issue.

Does anyone else have experience with this knot breaking on them?

Had 4 or 5 break offs couple nights ago, felt like sizable fish, 2 or 3 of them look like they broke the knot at the swivel.

Just wondering if anyone else has seen this also.

Been using this knot for probably 20 years without an issue, wondering if it might be bad line, as all the breakoffs happened on the same rod.

Any thoughts on this is appreciated.

Might be the line. Did you change brands?

I tried a different brand of flouro this year and had three bite offs the first day. Threw it in the trash and went shopping.

Yeah I just dumped the spiderline mono in the trash and spooled up new fresh P-Line on one and Suffix on the other.

will see how it goes in a couple days.

Too bad I lost about $20 in cranks because of possibly faulty line.

Last night I was sitting in the boat rigging up a few rods. One of them has fairly new line. It kept breaking while giving it the tug test. I pulled about 10 feet of line off before it passed. Must have been a bad section of the line. It happens.
