Ants in trail camera

Recommended Posts

I think Leech has got the right idea. You can buy insecticides designed to spray around the exterior base of your house that will keep ALL insects away from coming in. I'd think a good dose of that stuff around the entire base of the tree your cam is hanging on would likely do the trick.

Weird there were SO many ants in your cam. Have you perhaps used this cam before while perhaps setting up bait stations for bear? Must be something sweet in there that's got their attention.

I've checked the rubber gasket on mine and make sure the cover gets screwed back down tight and the dang things still find their way in. I've just been dealing with it and blowing most of them out whenever I check it.

They got in through the DC power jack in mine. I placed the whole thing in a large ziplock bag and tossed it in the freezer for a few days. Killed off everything. They have not been back since.

I don't get bugs in mine very often. When I do the bears open it up and eat the bugs out for me. shocked

I actually had hornets move into a camera, through the external power jack. I used Tempo on a rag. Wiped down the outside and the entire bear box, worked fine and the hornets never came back. I would be careful around the lens, motion sensor and gaskets with the Tempo. All they have to do is touch the tempo with their creepy crawlies before it is game over.
