T1-11 siding

When applying 5/8" T1-11 plywood siding with grooves 8" OC, the groove ends up on a stud whether your studs are 16 or 24" OC. How do you nail it to the studs if the grooves in the T1-11 are centered on the studs? These grooves are too deep to try and nail in the grooves. Do I 'skirt' the edge of groove in order to hit the stud off center? Thanks

Nail in the grooves. It is engineered to hold when nailed that way

What type of building?

Out of the grooves will be stronger, but causes other issues where sheets meet, etc.

You may not be able to get in the grooves with a hammer, but a nail gun will make short work of it.

LightningBG, A storage shed. No, a hammer won't work but if a nail gun will work in the groove then I'm good to go. Thanks

Make sure you're using galvanized ring shank nails to fasten it.
