bgreen82
Owners manual says Max tow weight is 2800 lbs with trailer brakes. Add 1000 lbs with boat. Is this due to aerodynamics of a boat and trailer as opposed to other trailers? I don't want to put any strain on my whip. What weight should I realistically be towing and what type of boat could that be? Have been looking at 17-18 ft fish/skis. Lund/crestliner/warrior/alumacraft type with minimum 90hp motor. Is this viable? Thanks,
fish_eat_sleep
Honda did that too for awhile with the pilot, 3500 for 4x2. 3500 for 4x4. with (4500 boat) penciled in for 4x4. I think it has to do with aerodynamics, but mostly the fact that boat trailers distribute the weight more equally. less room for loading errors and trailer sway. mechanically they can pull the high number, but an enclosed UHAUL type trailer loaded improperly should not be over 3500. Its goofy but its the manufacturers way of playing it safe. you know, the pull behind camper on the windy road stories..
