2013 U.S.Open

I have never liked Tiger but without having to hit driver much I like his chances. Furyk, top 5 most boring golfers of all time (why is he 5 hour energy spokesman?) but he's a plodding US Open Machine, GMAC won in 2010 and came in 2nd last year why not a 3rd place.

Yes there are so many good young golfers out there. I think Keegan Bradley really has an advantage like many of the younger guys when it's Bombs Away time. Not that they can't win here but they demolish par 5's normally. Sure many guys are long but theses guys are long plus longer.

It's a shame the weather is gonna be a big part of the story. I hope they don't go too deep under par, I always like watching the pros struggle to break par.

I can't wait to see what all the hype is about on Marion. Last time there was an open there, all the players avg like 250-260 off the tee and the top 10 distance guys were in the 280 range. Now an avg 3 iron is 235 and a hybrid is 260. I think it will take 66-68-68-70 to win.. These guys are just too good with 7 iron-wedge in their hands.

Phil!!!!!!!!! Is my pick.

I like the Westwood pick too. I want to see Tiger and Sergio in the last pairing while the fracus is still hot. Then I'd like another Sergio meltdown on 17, makes for good TV!

This could be the only downside to my 2pm fathers day tee time followed by a steak dinner for $75 at The Wilderness. So I'll have to dvr the final round.

While I think Tiger or Phil will pull off the win, my total darkhorse in this race is Luke Donald. Small greens that demand controlled irons is right up his alley. Length has always been his achilles heel so to speak, but with the course playing at under 7000 yards, length isn't so much of a factor anymore.

Luke Donald and Matt Kuchar are really solid picks!

Boy, that first few hours of the tourney before the first rain delays sure weren't the benchmark for the rest of this tourney! Before the delay guys were dropping birds left and right. Next day Merion showed all the players what she was made of.

Even threw all the announcers and everyone else for a loop. That course was brutal, and it showed in the scores every successive day of the tourney. Hard to believe one of the shortest courses in a PGA major event for many years could post so many above par numbers.

I was really pulling for Phil to win this one from the get go. He showed incredible integrity attending his daughter's graduation ceremony, then flying in and teeing off just in time with no practice. Then to go on and nearly win the U.S.Open! That's a GOOD guy right there. We all should take a lesson from him on how to be good Dad's.

I know he's probably really disappointed with his last couple holes, but if I could I'd tell him, to take a second place spot in the U.S. Open on such a difficult coarse is really dog gone good! He should be very pleased with his play.

I enjoyed watching a tournament where even the best players were launching balls wide out of play, and sometimes even into the gallery stands! Somehow it made me feel like maybe I'm not quite so bad at golf. laugh

His post round interview sunday really summed it up, more his countenance than what he actually said.

He looked a bit dejected. I don't blame him, so many 2nd place finishes at the US open... when he was in such a good place to win sunday.

I did not get to watch a ton of it since I was up north wed-sun, I did check out the highlights, and I gotta say it looked like a fun tournament. Merion certainly is a quirky little place.
