I replaced the bendix drive motor in my 2005 44 sportsman, that the dealer said was bad. all i get when i tun the key is a click on the battery, nothing on the starter. is the next step the starter it self? the drive gear was locked up so i thought that woul dfix it .

yes grounds and wires are good, going to try to jump the starter next and see if it will work

Plus+1. My motto is never trust the little crappy batteries in any toy, sled, bike, 4 wheeler, Jet ski, etc after sitting all winter.

Do you have a battery tender on it? I have one on mine and was having the same problem this past winter, couldn't figure it out. I took both positive and ground connections off and cleaned them and still nothing. Then one day I decided to disconnect the tender and haven't had a problem with it since. For some reason it must not have been getting a good connection through the battery posts with the tender on it. Worth checking out if you have a tender on it.

brand new battery, starts first pull with the recoil. i think it is the magnetic switch, all it does is click, so that is before a starter much cheaper

finally got it it was the starter after all, what a bear to put in there isnt much room!!
