Boxcar Wllie
I have a mid-90's 20HP Merc. I am go to have the seals replaced in the the bottom-end. I am also going to throw a water pump and impeller since the works is going to be apart anyway. Wondering what to expect when the bill shows up. I have heard as low as $200 to as high as $350 for(parts/labor). Based off of your experience, what have you seen? Thanks
Surface Tension
Depends on how you go about it. If your having it pressure tested and replacing the seal that leaks or if your replacing all the seals. In addition to the lower seals you have two seals on the drive shaft under the water pump and a shift rod seal. Last outboard I did a complete reseal cost me around $50 for the seals and $20 for the impeller. Figure in 1 or two hours labor.
