SmellEsox
I love the 6" Salt Shakers and noticed they have 8" Shakers now. So I ordered a couple packs. Anyone throw these? And if you do, how specifically do you rig them? I've rigged the 6" Shakers on a J-Mac or regular Kalin Bullet Jig, but these longer 8" ones may be too long to rig w/o some kind of trailer system. Any ideas or help would be appreciated.
50inchpig
rig it up on a larger j-mac or jig with a stinger hook, just like a walleye rig stinger only larger, of course. probably easiest to rig your shaker on the jig then secure some 7-strand or stright wire to the hook bend of the jig and drop it down to a 5/0 treble which you just stick in the side of the shaker. I have also seen straight wire droppers that ran through the shaker and poked out on the side, allowing the stinger hook to swing free instead of being stuck in the rubber, but that'll take much longer to reconstruct after a fish. other thing about the bigger shakers was that they were rigged flat, instead of swimbait style, if you know what i mean. you might already rig your j-mac and 6" shakers flat but flat rigging on the big shakers will help you out a bunch. SmellEsox
Yes, I rig the 6"ers flat on the J-Macs. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll give them a try.
