What did you do to release the locking mechanism?

I used Stainless Steel threaded rod that goes from the locking mechanism through the wheel well to inside the house. I then punched some holes in some 3x4 18 gauge tubing for handles and welded a nut into the hole i punched. All you have to do is spin the handle to raise the locking mechanism. My other thought was to use some stainless cable

Gotcha. That's basically what I did. Threaded rod through the wheel well, with a nut on top that I tighten to raise the mechanism.

I think it works really well and should have the durability to last for a long time.

It took a few tries to get everything packed the way we wanted it, but now that we have it figured out we should be able to put everything in or take everything out in 15min tops.

Nice. I like the simplicity of your setup. IMHO, some of these houses get a little out of hand with the luxuries of home, which only complicates things and almost makes one forget why you have it in the first place: ice fishing.
