gp13581
Taking my daughter up to Ripley for the youth hunt this weekend. I believe it is north of Cassino road that is open. I have never hunted this end of Ripley before. Any suggestions on where we should focus our hunt? She is of course pumped to go and has never had a shot at a deer so I am hoping to find a spot with some numbers. Thanks
MUSKY18
Yes it is north of Casino Road. Same area that we are hunting this week for the deployed soldiers hunt. Even tho its the northern 1/3 of Ripley, its still a mighty big area. But suggestion right now is to get down range, scout for green grass and water. Thats gonna be your best bet
eyesonly
T-4 and counting. It’s getting hard to sleep at night Its only going to get worse the closer we get! The weather is really shaping up Nice . I was going through the Data from last years Adult Hunts. Pretty Impressive Adult Buck Harvest Numbers. You Don’t want people giving you Specifics On here anyways GP. You would be surrounded On Friday Trying to Scout a spot out. Thank You Musky For your Service to Our Country. Its Great They do this Hunt for you Guys- How Many Vets do they Allow in For your Hunt ? I have to admit I was a little disappointed at first there was a group that got to hunt right before the Kids Until I saw who the Group was. Well Deserved is a huge Understatement. rbs
Last year the North end wasn't real great for service, but might have been where we were I guess.
archerystud
Is the youth hunt like the regular hunt in that you bring a camper with to sleep in?Is it usually North Casino Rd? My dad and I used to hunt up around Casino and Pusan when we went.

My dad and I used to hunt up around Casino and Pusan when we went. You can bring a camper to sleep in or they offer the barracks, which is what we are opting to do.I do believe that they limit you to the north end above Casino Rd, but this is our first year doing the youth hunt, so I'm not sure about that one. This cold weather that they are forecasting should hopefully get the deer moving.Nels
archerystud
Thanks guys.Let me know how it goes. My dad and I kind of gave up based on some experiences and gave up on the place. Too many hunters, waste hunt on scouting new area. Show up next time and military has clear cut the area we scouted....... Repeat! The years prior to that though I had some great hunts up there.I think it would be a blast to take my son up with a much smaller group of hunters and concentrate on his hunt.Sound like the weather should be good, so good luck to all!Post some pics if you get a chance! kevfish1
Does anyone know if a guy can get any info on where they have been clear cutting. Last year we walked in to our ussual area only to find no trees standing.
rbs
Bret might respond to this after he is done hunting, but there will be time to scout and hang stands if you come on Friday.
