Question related to trout fishing in Vermilion River in Farmington

Is the trout fishing down there the best during September before the season ends on the 30th? And if so, when is the best time of day to go for the best bite? Last time I went there was last month, and I didn't have any luck when I fished during noon. Any help with this is greatly appreciated. Gotta get my trout itch scratched before it's over for the year.

The fishing will be good right up to the close of the season; as is typical it depends on stream conditions. Two or three years ago late September rain ruined my last trip to the small streams in Fillmore County. As a bonus the male Brown trout will be in to their bright spawning colors, and you'll see some kypes on them, too.

On September 30 of last year, I probably caught and released forty or more Brook trout in an hour on a small headwater stream, and their bellies were really red. This year, my last trip to SE Minnesota for the season was a couple weeks ago, so no more grilled trout for me.

I fished there last week, but I got skunked (I fished in Farmington). Tried both a trout spinner, and then a small jig with a grubtail worm, but nothing bit. I think the trout already made their run through that part of the river. It sure felt nice to wade through a trout river! Perhaps I'll have better luck ice fishing for rainbows in a few trout lakes.
