If it we're anything to do with their growth rates, I reckon they oughta do the same thing for pike. That 5 lb hog smallie you caught is probably 12-18 yrs old. workin4bait Posted September 15, 2012 Share Posted September 15, 2012 The main reason,if my memory is correct,is the smallies group up in the fall and people used to sit on top of them and take limits day after day.Sportsmen who did not like the fact that so many smallies were being harvested made enough noise to the right people and got the current law enacted.
