nofishfisherman
Anyone here a certified firearm instructor with the MN DNR that can assist in completing a final field day for the firearm safety certification?I have all of my online course work and paper work completed for my MN firearm safety certification that is needed for hunting licenses but I still need to hook up with an instructor to go over my paper work and do the final field day stuff. If anyone is able to help I'd appreciate it. I have contacted several instructors listed on the DNR HSOforum but haven't heard back from any of them. I live in St. Paul so really anywhere in or near the metro area would be fine. Scott M
Keep trying. I just took my name off the list. Got to be too much of a hassle with people calling a week or two before season's open. I stick to the classroom now.Send a bunch of mass emails to folks that work counties other than Ramsey. You may need to travel but if you find someone that will do it, work with them. It's just tough to get on a range, take the time, shoot the guns, etc. etc. these days.

nofishfisherman
I was finally able to find someone to do my final field day next week. Although he isn't having me do any shooting or anything other than taking a short written test.I called the instructor trying to get into the organized field day he had listed on the DNR HSOforum but when I called he seemed to prefer doing it one on one and said it would only be a 50 question true/false test. It doesn't bother me that I am skipping the range portion since I'm competent with a firearm and have experience at the range already but it does bother me a little that others are probably getting their certification who may not be experienced already.
