MN Shutterbug
Send a few my way. I've had just 1 or 2 females the last couple days and they aren't inviting their husbands.

eyeguy 54
I get pics once in a while but it's a shady yard so not the best. I'll see what I can do. Here is pa from a month ago. http://www.hotspotoutdoors.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/2873378/Couple_pics#Post2873378
Jim Almquist
We feel very lucky to have a mating pair that come into the feeder. This far north there are not all that many of them in the area. They are now teaching there second brood of the season where our feeder is located. Funny how much noise the little one makes when its hungry. eyeguy 54
4 feeders full of black oil sunflowers helps. :>)
MN Shutterbug
I have 4 feeders with black oil sunflowers and it doesn't work here. It probably doesn't help that at this time there is a squirrel sitting in one of them. Stove pipe worked for the first 2 years but this particular one can scale anything. He is so danged quick. It's the same squirrel I befriended last year when he was just a pup. It's easy to tell because he doesn't flee until I'm 5 feet from him. Then he's back within 2 minutes after I get in the house. I guess I can feed one squirrel. After all, he is my buddy.

eyeguy 54
cardinals like bushy trees close to the feeders for escape. might be part of the problem? they will feed when the squirrels are not on the feeders. Many squirrels bite the dust here each year.
MN Shutterbug
I'm sure the lack of trees is a major influence. I did plant 2 rows of bushes last spring, but they'll take awhile to grow to a decent size. I'm thinking once they're full grown, it well be a help all around. Dotch
It's taking a while to attract cardinals here too because our cover is still relatively young. It's in the right spot though and the frequency of cardinal sightings has increased over the past couple years. Hopefully that's a sign of things to come. I still laugh every time I run that 1st squirrel clip Mike. Dayim! That little guy is fast!
