slipbobbin
I have a 03 pontiac grand prix and last week the driver side rear window fell. I taped it up and thought no big deal. Now 2 days ago I went to get in and move it and no power. Thought maybe the battery went dead, put another one in with same answer. Now went to take the key out andd it wont let me take the key out and wont let me shift it out of park with the key on the run position. Any idea??????????? Im lost Thanx
Jeremy airjer W
When the key is on is everything powering up? Dash lights, headlights, radio, blower motor. Etc.
slipbobbin
No power at all. Nothing turns on. No dome lights, radio, etc
Jeremy airjer W
Double check the battery connections. Make sure they are clean and tight. If you can wiggle the cable ends they are not tight enough.
Scott K
Ck the main power fuse on the battery fuse box. Ck with the key on, does the majority of the fuses in the fuse box have power? I have installed a few fuse boxes in GM's for having a bad board inside the fuse box.
slipbobbin
Would a bad ignition switch have anything to do with not having power elsewhere?
Jeremy airjer W
Headlights, taillights, brake lights, dome lights, power seats would be hot at all times. If the ignition switch where bad these would still work since they are not powered from the switch. If you do not have those and other items than it is further up stream than the switch. slipbobbin
What would cause the key to get stuck in the ignition? Is this two different problems?
JOHNBIGDOG
If this is the older body style (97-whenever they changed it) there are some wires that break in the PRNDL switch, causes one to not be able to shift out of park and not let one take the key out of the ignition switch. That was a crappy day for me....
Jeremy airjer W
If there is no battery power the park switch will not release the key
