HDS 5 Gen 1 compatible with Lakemaster chip?

My 522c got water inside the unit and I should be receiving a HDS5 Gen 1 in. Few weeks. Will I be able to use my Lake master chip? Will the insight maps be better?

If the chip is from your 522 it will work in your new HDS.

The new Lowrance 2012 Lake Insight chips seem very nice and a great value when considering you get lakes from other states, etc all on one chip versus several on the Lakemaster. Saving lots of money.

I havent purchased the new Lowrance chip, but I would get the Pro version over the HD simply because the only difference is shaded relief which only works when you are zoomed out a ways, so not much value IMO.

I compared a few lakes I fish in MN side by side with a lakemaster chip and the new lowrance chip and they appeared to be identical, only difference was the contour line color is different.
