Women only Cast 'N Blast in Steamboat Springs

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS CO - A women-only Cast 'N Blast seminar will be held in Steamboat Springs, Saturday, August 4, and women interested in learning the basics of fly-fishing, proper firearms handling and safe shooting skills are invited to attend.

The free, daylong event will begin at 8:30 a.m. to mid-afternoon. No experience is necessary and all equipment will be provided.

The firearms and fishing skills will be taught by Colorado Parks and Wildlife officers and volunteers, including knowledgeable, local fly-fishing guides.

"Some women may not have a mentor or an experienced person to teach them these skills," said Education Coordinator Kathleen Tadvick. "This class is perfect for them because they learn in a comfortable environment."

Cast 'N Blast is part of Colorado Parks and Wildlife's Women Afield Program. Through workshops, clinics, seminars, and educational hunts, the program focuses on teaching the skills, ethics and traditions of hunting to novice women.
