Case or shadowbox for antique lures...

Scott M

Question

I've been collecting the lures for years, now I want to put them on display...I'm recruiting a friend to help me with the woodshop work...any recommendations? What is a good lightweight but good looking wood to use? I am thinking of building boxes (think shadowbox) with fade-proof felt liners. Anybody else ever try this? Have any tips? Use a particular type of glass? I have a bunch of lures and want to arrange them by manufacturer and will need to build them kind of large to do the collection some justice.

I think a shadowbox full of lures would look cool. Or, better yet, multiple shadow boxes.

Do you remember a couple years ago when you were in my living room? I have a shadow box on the wall with a flag and some of my old military stuff. Looks a lot cooler than just a boring old case.

Just my opinion.

I have a couple shadow boxes I purchased. I use them for Clint's National Championship win and others who have won a National Championship that I helped.

I bought them and they are a black plastic box and I added a red felt backed with a thick foam, then added the Championship belt buckles.

They look pretty nice with the black box, red felt and the bronze colored belt buckles.

Great idea Scott as I am sure they would look nice.

I would think a nice wood stained and varnished with a felt backing would look cool. You can add foam to the back, then add the felt. One can cut out the foam where each lure will lay and that way, eveything will be flush with the glass on the front of the box. Just s thought.
