Might_B_A_Pike
I want to get my wife a new rod for this years ice fishing, I have a Perch Sweetheart and love the sensitivity of it, but my wife likes to wear gloves so I think a “see the bite” rod would be better then a “feel the bite” rod.So my question: what is better? the Power noodle or the Tripwire? Primarily fishing for panfish. Also since there is plenty of time till the lakes freeze over, is there any time of the year when they have the best deals on them, maybe one of their events or the ice fishing show? probably get a custom one to get the colors she likes
Eric_Kruger
My vote goes to the Powernoodle. Wait till the Portable Mod Get together in September normally they do a discount for rods at the events and weekend sales..

pushbutton
Trip wire if primarily for panfish, but think the noodle is a way better multi purpose rod. If going with the tripwire would get the heavier setup as it is still plenty sensitive and gives a little more backbone.
Dark Cloud
Both, and a Quiverstick... My wife loves the new tripwire, it is kinda foolproof when it comes to detecting bites...
fisherman-andy
Noodle & Quiverstick! For the tripwire theres cheap alternative called the Clam True Blue Micro bite tip reel/rod combo. Just like the tripwire but for only $40. Or you can always pick up the Thorns trip wire too. Or better yet just take an existing ice rod and have Thorne Bros add the trip wire tip to it. amateurfishing
i got first power noodle in march (after ice out)so cannt attest to that but did like JM spring bobber rod a lot (20-30) for inside as very easy to see bite with it.....but be very careful, tip has a tendency to break off quite easily right behind first eyelet (i now have 3 cause they sent me replacements afer first one broke, then first replacement broke) and that is why i hope powernoodle is better. JuanArellano
there both different rod, I like both and just sold a trip wire. Thorne Bros will have some on sale that are on the rack but, good luck on getting one if you don't get there as soon as they are opening. After that all custom order's are reg price. for all around stick I would go with the powernoodle.
