Hester
I don't have a pic but you guys are so good I bet you can tell me what it was.I had 2 birds in my back yard I don't remember ever seeing before. They had dark heads with a white breast and a very distinct white rimmed tail. They were larger than a finch and but smaller than a cardinal. they were very playful with each other in the air. I'm not sure if this is enough info but if you might now what it is let me know.Or post a pic and I can tell you if thats it.Thanks

MN Shutterbug
Here is a pic of a Phoebe and also a pic of an Eastern Kingbird. The Phoebe isn't much bigger than a finch and the Kingbird is getting closer to the size of a Cardinal. This is about all I have in my archives that may represent what you saw. Hester
Eastern Kingbird it is.It had the drastic black on white look.It sure was fun watching these birds play in the air together. That is until one of our cats ended up in the back yard. Our cats might end up running away(wink) yet! Thanks MN Shutterbug! How common are these birds in Minnesota?
Hester
I just looked at a map of their range and I guess they are pretty much everywhere.Funny, I don't recall seeing them much.
