Baby flat or bullhead?

Stonecat - closely related to the Madtoms (willow cats). A typical Stonecat most places is 4"-6". It lacks the head shape and protruding lower jaw of a Flathead. The body/shape is wrong for a Flat or Bully too, with the closest bullhead being a Yellow Bullhead but there is no doubt that it is a Stonecat.

flatheads are that size at one point in their life but they look a lot different.

this is a baby flat - they look like this at much smaller sizes too:

Note the long, flat head and the huge distance between the eye and the gill flap. Also note that the adipose fin is distinctly separate from the caudal fin. In a Stonecat (like the OP) they blend together

yeah, that was one of the things that stood out and made me wonder what the heck the thing was.

All the fish have different color variations and bullies are different sub spieces brown, black ,and yellow

I would say that its also a stonecat or better yet bait grin
